Treatment of chronic Blisters
Posted by DonBlister is commonplace diseases affecting mostly the skin areas. To sports people and athletes blisters can be a regular infection and measures should be taken to curb and avoid them and minimize their occurrence. It is typical the way that blisters occurs, a slight friction from either clothes or even sporting equipments on the skin surface may result to a formation of a blister. This friction should be avoided instantly when they start as a continued friction will cause serious damage on the inner skin or the second layer of the skin resulting to very severe pain.
How to treat blisters
Treatment of blisters goes a long way and hence various preventive measures be looked into before the blister reaches a secondary stage, which is more complicated and more painful. The goals are to keep the blister contained and avoid it from enlarging and bringing in the serious infection. The infection will come with signs of pus draining from the blister, red or warm skin around the blister all the time, and acute red streaks leading away from the blister.
Mostly what we can is to practice home treatment immediately the sign of the blister occurs on our skin. Immediately one feels like the blister is about to form, avoid what is causing the friction around that skin surface thus the small unbroken blister which was in the making can be left alone and eventually heal from its own skin. If the blisters persists, pain increases and it becomes bigger, drain the blister very safely and carefully by first cleaning it and the area surrounding it very gently.
This will be done by the use of substance like alcohol or water together with soap. Next you will need to sterilize a needle over a flame until it is red hot at the tip the allow it to cool for a couple of minutes, finally you puncture a small opening at the edge of the protruding blister and drain all the fluid by application of a very gentle force. When all the fluids is completely drained , place some antibiotic ointment on the blister the cover it with a clean sterilized bandage and leave it to heal naturally as you avoid no more friction to the affected area. What one can do if to increase the rate of healing is to be draining any fluid and changing of the bandage daily to ensure the affected area of the skin is kept clean at all times and to avoid the accumulation of pus that worsens the infection. If the blister is on your feet, you may as well avoid wearing of shoes or doing the same activity that lead to the formation of the blister until it completely heals.
However, if the problems persists or get worse, it is always advisable to seek medical attention. The case should be handled by the experts who will perform their diagnosis and will give the corresponding medication.
